MIXING DOWN THE MADNESS

As a recent feature in DJ Mag puts it, Mandidextous is a DJ and producer who has ‘taken drum & bass scene by storm over the past year, dropping release after release of superhyperdopaliscious slammers’.

In our first Tech Dissect workshop of 2023, they’ll be giving us an insight into how they’ve pioneered a new sound that combines drum and bass’ ‘electrifying futurism with techno’s four-to-the-floor pulse and the uninhibited energy of bassline.’

In this online Ableton workshop, they will cover:

– Mixing tips: how to create fluidity and balance in your tracks

– Making mixdowns translate across sound systems and streaming platforms

– How to create clarity by separating different frequencies in a mix

– Structures: moving from one genre to another in one track

There will also be plenty of opportunities to ask questions throughout the session.

A kaleidoscopic montage of genres all mashed together into a high-energy format that M aka “Mandidextrous” calls Speedbass, taking inspiration from D&B, Techno and Bass house. 

M’s’ music crosses boundaries as much as their outspoken blur of Gender. M is a Trans Non-Binary artist pushing for notability and equality within the music industry as well as being a figurehead for gender variance online. 

Over the years M’s music has led them to a constant touring roster here in the UK as well as in Europe, having played some of the biggest venues and festival stages the world has to offer. With multiple releases on digital and vinyl formats and a leading record label for underground dance music Amen4Tekno Records M is always pushing for more in their career.
