Following on from the success of our 2021-22 Artist Development project, we are delighted to share details of our 2022-23 programme.
Beginning later this December, the programme will provide three Black women and non-binary music creators based in South West England with the opportunity to embark on an exciting programme of personal development.
Born out of an aim to lay deeper foundations for better visibility, representation and financial benefit for Black creators in our area, the project will provide each participant with tools, opportunities and support to develop their careers.
It centres around a paid commission from Saffron to create a musical work, exploring the topic of human relationships with technology.
Applications are now open for artists to apply to participate in the project, with applications from music producers being particularly welcome. Download our application pack using the button below.
PROJECT ACTIVITY INCLUDES:
- A paid commission from Saffron, exploring the topic of human relationships with technology.
- Funding for additional development costs
- 1-2-1 mentoring
- Music industry masterclasses
- Saffron membership
- Media content creation
- Publicity and marketing
- Opportunity for collaboration
- Residential artist’s retreat
- Showcase event
- Optional support with creative direction, workshops, and collaboration opportunities related to the brief
APPLICATION CRITERIA:
- You must be… A musical creative of some kind, such as a music producer, composer, lyricist, instrumentalist or vocalist.
- You must be… A woman, non-binary, trans, intersex or gender non-conforming person.
- You must be… Black or of mixed-Black heritage.
- You must be… Age 18+. There is no maximum age limit
- You must be… Currently living in Bristol or South West England
