We are proud to announce Dutchie as the newest addition to the Saffron Records family! Read on to find out more about the Bristol-based artist and DJ, and her brand new single.
We’re delighted to announce the release of “Satin Planet”, the newest EP from Bristol-based artist and DJ, Dutchie on Saffron Records. Bookended by “Entrance” and “Exit”, two ambient, sometimes eerie, scene-setting soundscapes, Dutchie’s five-track EP, Satin Planet, blurs the lines between sound design and songwriting, splicing field recordings with soft, stripped-back vocals and live instrumentation.
Much like a dream, “In Deep” (Track 2) – co-produced by Kreed – sounds both familiar and completely new; Dutchie’s soulful vocals are underpinned by tight drums, crooning strings and a trip pop-inspired chord progression. Co-written and sung by Mac Lloyd, “Slower” (Track 3), feels bittersweet; Dutchie’s melancholic lyrics sunbathe amongst neo-soul inspired live trumpets, courtesy of her dad. In the percussive and synth-heavy “Five Day” (Track 4), half-remembered dreams are recollected through layered, spectral vocals – “I’ve been here before.” Originally composed in 5.1 surround, Dutchie’s abilities as both a producer and as a sound engineer are skillfully displayed in this track, which feels just as enveloping and other-worldly in stereo.
Though Satin Planet will be Dutchie’s first release on Saffron Records, she’s been working with us for years and heads up the teaching for our Sound Engineering course in Bristol! With a recent release on Jamz Supernova’s label, Future Bounce, Dutchie has come a long way since she first started making music and we couldn’t be more excited to put out her next EP.
